“If we want to go far, the key is to go together.” @Atmaclimb

In Members in Profile, we interview stand-out members that show strong aptitude and work ethic. Our goal is to highlight different folks so that you can see the effort that our members are putting into their trading and hopefully learn from their experiences of the Convergent Trading Community.

We hope you enjoy hearing what @Atmaclimb has to say!

What brought you into trading?

I started trading right after I finished my bachelor’s degree in Science of Economics with Emphasis in Industrial Economy and Capital Markets. It was back in 2006 and I remember it was love at first sight. There was a technical analysis webinar that I was invited to attend from one of the college professors. Since that day I knew I wanted to trade for a living. A year after the webinar I met a former student from my college, he was already trading. Him, my professor, and I began the journey.

What do you like most about Convergent?

  1. The professionalism, the way Convergent embraces their members to help them maximize their potential in trading and personally.
  2. The content and knowledge of trading is something I have not seen in many years.
  3. The way FT71 promotes a focused and tactical trading environment, using statistics to help traders develop a trading edge.

How have these aspects helped you grow as a trader?

The Trade Talk Sessions are key, because they are a continuation of the Trade Right Program; and the Head Traders are always sharing their views, providing feedback to all the members who attend.

A good way to enhance your performance is to watch other traders trade while creating your own trading strategy and style.

Do you have a favorite community quote or webinar?

I would like to say all the webinars are equally important for our development as traders. I can speak of two that impacted me and resonated with me.

Before joining Convergent, I was not consistent on my trading log, and I believed trading for a living was an endeavor I could do by myself. It is possible, although if we want to go far, the key is to go together.

Do you have any advice for new traders?

I am simply repeating what other successful traders have said,

  • There should be no anger when executing your plan.
  • If you find a trading set up that resonates with you, take the time to test it and improve it instead of jumping from strategy to strategy.
  • Like FT71 said “this stuff takes a lot of repetition and time”.

Have you participated in the #TradeRight Program? What discoveries have you made?

Yes. I completed the Trade Right Program, and I still go back to review the material frequently.

The main discovery was that I learned how to track errors daily. Also, the discipline of doing the post-mortem every day at the end of the trading session, has been key in gaining what I call mental consistency-confidence. The Drills were also an eye opener since it was something I had never done before. It is like the trading Gym.

What is your favorite non-trading activity/hobby?

Downhill skiing is something I love doing when I have time.
