“As the Market Evolves so also Must the Trader in Order to Succeed.” @BruceFxx
In Members in Profile, we interview stand-out members that show strong aptitude and work ethic. Our goal is to highlight different folks so that you can see the effort that our members are putting into their trading and hopefully learn from their experiences of the Convergent Trading Community.
We hope you enjoy hearing what @BruceFxx has to say!
What brought you into trading?
I was exposed to trading in school by a friend whose father was a VP at a large international investment firm with an apartment on 5th avenue–not exactly my milieu. My friend introduced me to trading options on stocks. I moved to Chicago and began to read about the futures
markets and I used to stop by the CBOT to watch the traders which was fascinating when seen up close. I was able to spend a week on the floor watching bond traders.
What do you like most about Convergent?
CT is really a one stop shop for trading. FT71 came from a prop background. Additionally, at CT there are many traders who are capable and offer valuable insights, sharing their ideas on CT’s Discord channel. Other valuable services include software templates, daily levels for several markets, various statistical studies updated regularly, a subscription to a live news feed, webinars and of course the Trade Right and Accelerator Programs. And all for a very fair price.
How have these aspects helped you grow as a trader?
After participating in the Accelerator Program I discovered that yes I can trade and make money but I had been trading in good part from instinct, which I confess will not give you the edge you should be seeking. We were grounded in market structure and given tools to take advantage of that. I’m part way there but I realize that I have a lot of work to do before achieving a consistent edge. Success comes with patience, hard work and time.
Do you have a favorite community quote or webinar?
Well, it’s not something that I can recite but FT71 has emphasized that he had to adapt over the past 20+ years to a market that is less kind to scalpers and warrants understanding structure. As the market evolves so also must the trader in order to succeed.
Do you have any advice for new members?
I would encourage new traders to set goals and rather than time based I would use learning and performance based goals. I would encourage anyone with an interest in pursuing futures trading to do so and Convergent Trading is the place to start. As an aside, I also recommend long term investing. Financially, it’s the smartest thing that I’ve done. Familiarity with the stock market can be helpful to your futures trading as well.
What is your favorite non-trading activity/hobby?
I like the outdoors and walk my dog in the Forest Preserve. I played tennis but mainly watch it now. I like to fish, sail, hike, etc. I also travel and when younger hitch-hiked across parts of the U.S. and Europe. I read, play the piano and sometimes cook extravagant meals.
Have you participated in the Accelerator Program/Course? What discoveries have you made?
Absolutely. I participated in the Accelerator Program, and found it to be an eye-opening experience. The course delivers a deep foundation in auction market theory, order flow, and structured trade planning. What stands out is the quality of instruction and firsthand engagement with FT71, a professional futures trader with 25 years of experience. He explains how to interpret the auction and develop context-based setups which has fundamentally changed how I see trading and the markets.
I review certain lessons frequently – you might say that it is an operating manual and I would think that most everyone will want to participate at some point during their trading education.
