“Enjoy the ride!” @Lacey23

In Members in Profile, we interview stand-out members that show strong aptitude and work ethic. Our goal is to highlight different folks so that you can see the effort that our members are putting into their trading and hopefully learn from their experiences of the Convergent Trading Community.

We hope you enjoy hearing what @Lacey23 has to say!

What brought you into trading?

I’ve always had a curiosity about the markets but never really attempted to get involved until recently. I went through a bit of an evolution to find myself where I am today. Back in 2017 I bought a bit of BTC in all the hype, it was a HODL position which I ended up having to sell pretty much at the bottom of the market to do a charity MTB ride across the UK. I didn’t dwell on this too much at the time, I was running a woodworking business.

This business is what drove me to realize that I may need to start thinking about other options in my life. I determined the amount of risk that I was taking with all the overheads of a woodworking shop, and the amount of hours required to actually stay afloat for very little financial reward just wasn’t adding up. The 2021 run came and this pricked my ears up. With trading I could have a far better grasp on determining my risk. So, I began my voyage to becoming a trader.

I started working for someone which gave me the luxury of being able to have some headphones on most days, I began trawling through YouTube trying to discover what the best way to go about this was. I found Chat with Traders. The first thing I realized was that there are a myriad of ways to potentially extract money from the market, and now I need to narrow this down. I eventually came across FT. I seemed to resonate with his approach.

I then started listening to the Trader Bites during work to try and figure out what the heck this guy was going on about. (I think I’m finally getting there now.) During this time I started working on the weekends reading books on TA. I didn’t feel ready to join a community at that point.

I then got sidetracked slightly and joined a crypto trading group which was great, and I learned loads, but it just didn’t have what I was looking for to help me progress. After a year I spotted that the AP program was going public, so I decided to take the plunge. I was pretty nervous, it felt like such a contrast, I was stepping into a professional environment.

As time has gone by, I’ve slowly been finding my feet, and I keep trying to push myself out of my comfort zone (hence doing this). So here I am now, progressing day by day, giving it my all to become a trader.

What do you like most about Convergent?

I’ve really found that the structure within Convergent has been a massive bonus. It feels like an overwhelming amount of work to do at the start and a lot of video time but things start falling into place.

How have these aspects helped you grow as a trader?

I’m a bit of a scatter brain so having the structure provided has given me the focus required to help navigate this field.

Do you have a favorite community quote or webinar?

Not so much a quote but an action. Has to be the doobie guy FT would draw in the Trader Bites. Even when serious business needs to be taken care of, fun should be had whilst doing so. That’s my interpretation anyway.

Do you have any advice for new members?

Enjoy the ride!

What is your favorite non-trading activity/hobby?

I have a few. I love being outdoors, keen for a MTB ride or Surf any day of the week. One of my biggest drivers for trading is to be able to fund a surf trip to Mentawai one day. I would say that surfing has a high correlation to trading, it requires a high amount of samples and every wave/setup is unique. You have to be patient for the quality opportunities to arise and execute.

Have you participated in the #TradeRight program/challenges? What discoveries have you made?

I’m currently participating in the Trade Right program. It’s been really beneficial to me. As mentioned above it’s the structure and that little bit of pressure to be pushed forward. It’s really helping me to iron out the flaws in my process, which there have been many. I’ve also joined an accountability group which has been very beneficial too.
